LA Metro 720 (Wilshire Blvd) stabbing incident, 10/15/2014 6pm [ Beverly Hills/CA east of UCLA ]

2014-10-16 33 Dailymotion

Just after 6pm LA Metro 720 pickup at Westwood Blvd & Wilshire Blvd (UCLA campus), an incident in rear portion of dual-bus. Driver pulled over, assailant (with knife) & victim exited followed by witnesses. I followed since I had to catch another LA Metro 720 (or 20) bus to make Metrorail Purple (Wilshire/Western). I followed victim as he chased assailant. Beverly Hills Police came charging west on Wilshire Blvd, with fire-trucks & fire medics. The assailant was tackled/taken to ground, with victim getting treatment. Helicopter ovehead, witnesses circling victim.

This illustrates LACK of Security on LA Metro transportation (buses & Metrorail), there have been incidents of stabbings..some fatal. Metrorail Red stabbing, Metrorail Gold (fatal) stabbing. The PERPLEXING THING is how LA Sheriff are involved witn "fare-checking", that amounts to HARASSMENT of passengers. Why the heck are trained sheriffs armed with guns, relegated to "fare checking" of "mob of passengers" exiting Metrorail (or Orange Express bus)?? This MAKES NO SENSE.

I was YELLED at by a LA Sheriff deputy, as I exited Orange Express at 4:40pm (Van Nuys station, westbound) along with other passengers. I simply had to make my next connection -- LA Metro 761 at Burbank Bl & Van Nuys Blvd, at 4:44pm. The idea of a LONE sheriff trying to corral a group of passengers in hurry to make their next connection, is ABSURD!!

Then, the LA Metro 720 stabbing incident at 6pm, further ACCENTUATES the absurdity of "Revenue Generation" by LA Sheriffs via "fare evaders".

Hey, City of Los Angeles (incl Mayor Garcetti)..

DO SOMETHING about LA Metro SECURITY..it's NOT SAFE!

I see LA Sheriffs "loitering" in groups at turnstiles at Union Station, N. Hollywood station, etc...TALKING TO EACH OTHER. Not only is it HARASSMENT of passengers, it's INCREDIBLY BORING to LA Sheirff deputies. I'm sure most of them will tell you that "LA Metro detail" is an un-enviable task
